Season Thoughts

As the season of giving is upon us I have to ponder the things I have been grateful for. The joy that is in my life and the lessons I have been taught. Each one unique some have brought pain along with the joy. Remember each day how much family should mean to you we never know when we will lose them or the struggles they will face. When we are feeling alone and forgotten remember there has been one that has gone throught it before us. He was sent here to lighten our load and to lift us up to greated glory. I give my thanks to my Savior not only because of the season but because of the grace he has given unto me and my family. Without him I have no season or reason to be.

What does Tv teach our children

What does nocturnal mean? Driving home from Utah all of a sudden Dylan says Owls are nocturnal and so are bats this means they stay up all night and sleep during the day. The older kids didn't even know the word yet alone the meaning. When we all asked him were he heard this he said "On a commercial for Franklin".

Grandma got roped in

Dylan went to grandmas for a few days. His first time away from home without any parents or siblings. Grandma took him to the store and Dylan sees a Dinosaur that was bigger than the ones he usually gets. He looks at grandma and insists he just has to have it. HE DOES NOT HAVE THIS ONE!!! Grandma wonders because she know that his mom buys him lots of dinosaurs. HE says "I know what dinosuars I have I DO NOT have this one". Grandma gives in and gets it for him. He comes home shows it mom and I said "Dylan you have that dinosaur" he says I know but grandma doesn't I wanted the bigger one because I only have baby ones and so this one can be the daddy one. DO NOT TELL GRANDMA. I said well I should probably tell grandma and dylan the little snot he is says "If you tell on me I will just tell grandma you said she is a devil". (This came from the conversation that mom on the phone is 666)Though he is a joy in our lives it made me realize even at 5 yrs. old he still knows how to get what he wants and to play the system.

During the month of October the leaves started changing the weather was warmer than normal and life around the Trahants is still just as crazy as ever. The kids are all doing great in school and seem to be lovin it just as much as ever. Rob and I are still working non stop trying to stay motivated in the right direction.

We were sitting in sacrament meeting and as usually the kids are a little hyper so they got into trouble. Dylan was mad at me and was flicking my arm with both is hands. It was early so still a little noisy. I asked him what he thinks he was doing and just as he answer the whole room went silent as he yells at me "I'm mad at you so I am flipping you off"! I thought I would die. Its a good thing he doesn't really know what flipping someone off is.

On the 30th I had the oppurtunity to go to the Logan Temple with my sister Mickey. It was the most wonderful experience to sit beside her and do the Lord's work. I had not been to the temple in almore 10 years. I made a promise to myself and the Lord I would go at least once a month from now on.

We took the kids trick or treating that same night it was a lot of fun. Usually I have to work so for once I was able to spend it with them. They all looked so cute in their costumes and of course I forgot to get pictures of them.

On the 31st I worked days it was the kids primary program so rob went in my place and said they all did a wonderful job with their parts. I am so proud of each of my children. LOve and appreciate them all. Life is truely a gift that we all take for granted. So as we say goodbye to October and hello to November I pray it will be as wonderful this year as the past 10 months have been. I love the holidays and Christmas is my favorite I can't wait to see the joy it brings this year.

Well, we are desperately trying to save for a house.... so needless to say we have moved back in with Robs dad while we wait for a decisions on the house we applied for. Time is going by so slowly we just want a decision either way so we can make our deicsions on where we are going to stay. Rob and I are doing great!! We struggle at times but have grown closer together in the last few months things are better than ever. He is the rock of our family I love him so much. He is doing great with Nicholas even if he does hate it he works hard. I have nine credits left till graduation. I'm going to take a couple months off before jumping back into school for the next level. The stress of work and school is great on my family they are wonderful to put up with me. Kyra is in the eighth grade this year, she is such a beautiful girl and growing into a beautiful young women. Teenagers are hard at times but she is one in a million. Johnathon is in the seventh grade this year, wonderful young man so selfless and giving to all around him. He is very much into girls this year and so hormonal. I don't know what I would do without him. Shayla is in the sixth grade and attending Charter school this year. She is really coming into her own and growing into a beautiful young women. Ariana, finally a young girl that is growing up and beautiful each day I look at her and think where has the time gone.She is in the third grade this year. Katelynn is also growing up so fast already in the first grade! She seems so much older as she is more mature and smarter than her six years should be. Dylan is so funny and cute and he knows it, another joy in my life. He is bored being home with no kids around, thank goodness he loves his daycare so he has friends. He is five this year and can't wait to go to school next year. Everyone is doing well, (to my knowledge) they are all doing great in school so far and loving their classes.

It has been forever since I last posted.Summer is gone and school is back in session. Pictures to come soon I promise..... The summer went so quickly I was not able to get everything done that I wanted to. We went to the zoo so pictures of that will follow, this past weekend we went to the condo in Island Park for once the weather was wonderful. I wish we had taken pictures of the suite we stayed in, it was breathtaking it even included a private hot tub!!!! The whole family had a wonderful weekend. We went up to West Yellowstone, it was such a beautiful drive. Dylan saw a bull Elk with a nice rack and he yells "CHECK OUT THE GUNS ON THAT THING"! When I asked why guns he replied "Well, if boys have muscles and we call them guns than the animals horns are guns also".

Memorial Weekend

Over Memorial Weekend this year we went up to Shoshone Falls in Twin Falls, Idaho. It was pretty nice weather for this time of year. The pictures follow, we had a blast. My niece Cynthia went with us and for some reason I do not have any pictures of her I know I took some! Shayla took her friend Nona with us, we missed having Kyra with us. After going to the falls we camped at NAT-SOO-PAH a natural hot springs. It was a great trip with lots of fun everyone enjoyed it. Looking forward to another trip hopefully soon.

Already here we are going into March 2010 how quickly time flies. I have to remind myself each day its ok to have somethings left for tomorrow to ease the stress for the day. Rob and I have decided we need a break (really he just knows I am to my breaking point and he better make sure I get one) so next weekend my mom generiously has agreed to take the kids so we can get away. I will be nice spending time together and not waking up to fighting for a day. The kids are doing great enjoying torturing one another and seeing who can last the longest with the fights. No really they are good kids. This summer we will hopefully be moving again, it is in the works and will be interesting to see if we can manage it. The house will be smaller than the one we are renting but the move will be worth it in the end leading up the the bigger one the following year.

After Four and a half years of seeing a doctor and lots of surgeries for her eyes, I felt something needed to change. I kept having a feeling come to mind to change doctors. I was in Walmart a while ago and saw a fill in doctor and she was telling me about what she does as a peds eye doc. I strongly felt she would be the one to help katelynn and get things going in a positive way. Rob and I took her to see this lady TWO WEEKS ago. At that time we were told her left eye with the help of glasses was seeing 20/20 and the right was pretty much legally blind 2170 and 2200 is blind. She wanted to stop the patching and the dilation drops and do a new technique of physical therapy on the eyes. She had Rob and I try on the glasses we would use on Katelynn so we would see what she would be going through. They were pretty cool. One lens green the other red and you can only see through the green. She sent us home with some games to play as "homework" for the eyes. Katelynn loves doing them and Rob is WONDERFUL at making sure she does them every night. To say the least we had another appointment with her today........ Our prayers have been answered and we are on the right track. The doctor was amazed at the results and had to have them doubled checked. She said in all her years of practice she had NEVER seen such an improvement in such a short period of time. She now sees in the right eye (the bad one) 2050. And her eye is not turning in as much meaning the muscles are becoming stronger. She sent home new homework and we go back in another two weeks. Technology and faith go a long way!!

We started out the new year with Double surgeries. Katelynn (she has decided she is not Katie but Katelynn) and Ariana both had their tonsils out three weeks apart from one another. Dylan needs to have his out but I need a financial break so he will have to wait as much as possible.

The month of January has flown by so quickly! I have not had time to post in three months. To end the first month of a new year.... There I was sitting at a stop sign when out of the blue a Tahoe crashes into me I look over as a wall of glass from the passenger window hits me, followed closely by the mirror. No one was hurt too bad except the car. I ended up with tore muscles in the back and shoulder but nothing I can't handle. The adjuster will be her tomorrow to see what damage is going to cost us. Thankfully she had insurance as well....I will try to get some pictures up.

The kids are going great, wishing for summer to come. I have decided I need a break from school and have taken a leave of absence to get things back under control emotionally and hopefully the stress I feel daily will decrease. Rob thinks I won't continue with my education by taking a break but anyone who knows me knows how stubborn I am so I will continue if I say I will.

As far as I know Rob is doing well, I don't really see him anymore unless one of us has a day off. I know he snores since that is when I do see him the hour before he has to get up and go to work. I told him the other day we need a vacation for at least a week. He has been a great blessing in my life and the lives of our kids, without him I wouldn't be able to accomplish all the things I do. He cooks, cleans, works his body to the bone. At times I don't think he realizes how much we love and appreciate him.

We are so proud of him!!!! His team made it to the Championship game and won! They got to play in the Holt arena where the ISU college games are held. He had a blast I'll post a link to see all the pictures on Picasa. Hopefully this will work it is still new to me I have never used it before.

I had to get some sleep since I start graves tonight! Dylan wanted chocolate milk and since we are out of milk he decided on hot chocolate.... gGRRRRRRR here is his reciepe: all the nesquick thats is left into a pan of dish soap and hand sanitizer and add sugar put on stove and hope sister doesn't wake mom before he is done!!! Thankfully she did before he turned the stove on.

Rain Rain Go Away

For the last few weeks as many around us have had the same it has rained more than ever. Our govenor has declared a disaster due to homes flooding from the ground being so saturated (yes even the one we were in had this happen) to the snake river flooding in parts. Well finally we had a day that was nice so I decided to take the kids to Jensens Grove to play. Needless to say they had to swim on the play ground literally. The water in certain areas was up to the benches of the picnic tables. The kids LOVED it and want to go back. There are also pictures of Johnathon and Kyra skateboarding or at least attempting to. With all the things that have been happening to our family lately and all the trials from Dylan,Katie, the house rob and his sister and everything else. I keep thinking these are signs of the times. Am I ready to meet the Lord? Can I honestly stand before him and be happy. I am so grateful for the power of the priesthood (I really miss it in my home) and the teachings of forgiveness, repentance and the joy I feel from knowing that there is a way. I know our Heavenly Father loves us and is just waiting for us to be ready to come to him. Sometimes I ask why and please don't give me anymore trials and stress I just can't handle it, than I have to humble myself and remember he will only give us what we can handle. And blessing come from those trials,(i'm still waiting for that part). Either way I am thankful that I have my family we may struggle and may not always get along but they are always there when needed most.

Memorial weekend ended up costing dearly. Poor Dylan is starting his summer in a thigh high cast. He was on the trampoline and fell on the springs breaking this tibia bone right below the growth plate by the knee.

Well its been about a month since I wrote anything. Finals went great all A's but one C. We had the kids party only 5 total showed up so it was nice!!! School is almost out about eight days left. we found out we will be moving. For now we are going to be staying with Rob's Dad until we can find something else. So once again packing to move next door.It will be interesting.

Just an Update....

Well its been a while for us that I haven't had much time to do much. Finals...Where to begin? I have taken and passed all but two which will be this next week. This semester has gone by so quickly. But my classes were pretty easy well mostly. I have found I love teaching primary. Ariana and I still but heads at times but I know that things will come as they should. ROB AND I REALLY ARE CRAZY AND WE JUST FOUND OUT!!! This year the birthdays have started to pile up on us so we though it would be so smart to just get the sleep overs out of the way so........ are you ready for this...... Next Friday we are having Kyra, Johnathon, and Shayla sleepovers.... 5 friends each..... Pre teens HEAVEN HELP US!!! 21 kids in my house. Hey bright side is we may not have to do anymore repairs because they will all just tear it to the ground and than we can just start over.

Ok now the serious stuff... Dylan is sick again more mold. Right now we are controlling it with lots of allergy meds. And we are starting more repairs. More construction which leads to more stress.

Katie had another eye appointment....Not good. We are now at 2100 and 2200 is legally blind. We won't know for sure what will be in store for when she starts school this next fall. We are taking her in for another opinion and than will go from there.

We received our baby chicks and there are 27 counting the rare exotic one (the black one we don't know what it is) I had to go and buy a heating lamp for them so I got the red one just because. We put them in the swimming pool for the brooder box lol its all I could think of. Well......we received a visitor asking to see the back room where we have the chicks because apparently last night there was a red glow coming from that room and I guess some meth labs have that so they thought we may be dealing drugs. I laughed so hard!!!

Cooking Lesson #2

Kyra and Johnathon decided they knew how to make Rice Krispies. After all I've told them and they have watched me. Here is there Recipes not too bad till later.
Make them on the stove with butter, marshmallows, and rice krispies put into pan (that's seem right) well they added what they thought you should do Bake at 400 for 20 min. WOW they were interesting. I asked them where they got that part and was told well its in a pan so you need to bake them. They were so bad I could only laugh. I let them help me make a batch the next day so everyone could enjoy them. They are learning slowly and hopefully before they burn the house down.

Recently Johnathon had the fifth grade discussion on changes in the body..... Well, tonight he wanted to go to school with me (Biology) I hadn't printed out the slides so I wasn't prepared and didn't know the subject. To say the least we were discussing Meiosis and Mitosis... Not a big deal right? Well, we went in to Meiosis which only happens in the sex cells. We went into the sperm section and I was thinking Johnathon would be embarrassed he looked and me all innocent and says "we already learned about this like why haven't you.... The professor starts talking about x and y chromosomes and how some sperm swims faster than others. All adult acting like Johnathon asks "well does it matter how fast or slow you go to make the sperm come out?" Everyone was trying so hard to hold back the laughter. Professor didn't answer he just looked at me. I told Johnathon to ask his dad or we would discuss it later.

Well I have a new calling........ I knew something was up when the Bishop asked me what my school schedule was. Someday I'll learn to keep my mouth shut. I am a Primary Teacher only problem its Ariana's class. Don't get me wrong I'm happy I just know how much we butt heads. She is too much like me so we will see how it goes.

Last night our ward had the annual Daddy Daughter Date. Rob took Kyra and Shayla (the other two aren't old enough to go yet). They had a blast dinner dancing and games. Every one enjoyed themselves. Rob was voted but the young girls the funniest dancer lol he even got a paper to bring home for it. They can't wait for next year to come to do it all again. Kyra is so excited that she will get to go to girls camp this year and most likely twice. Her moms ward and ours!!! Hard to believe how fast they grow up.

Busy Day

Well today has been extremely busy. I had my state skills test today. I PASSED YEA!! Ariana was home sick (I think she was faking). We took Katie back to the eye doctor today... After three surgeries she is done for a while its holding and the position of the eye looks great! That's the good news The bad news is she is still losing vision. He says that if we continue to patch all the time and do the drops daily there is still a chance that she will have some return. So back to torturing her she hates having to wear a patch and is sick of the drops. We go back to the doctor end of April.

I have found a LOT of homemade cleaners I've tried most of them and find them to work. They save a lot of money and you'll find a lot of the ingredients around your house. If your interested let me know and I'll email you the file I made of them its about 16 pages worth of stuff from making about any type of cleaner you want examples: laundry soap, dishsoap, bathroom and kitchen cleaners car windshield cleaner (we have tried this one also) tons of things!!!!!!!!

I'm so excited I passed my test for my CNA class. I'm not planning on practicing in this field for long as it is and has always been a stepping stone in my nursing field..................To make things even better I came home from school to find a letter from Washington D.C. I was thinking what the heck whats wrong. I got my scholarship for the nursing program. It will only cover part of next year but every cent helps!!

Well this little kitten was found in a garage half dead. I decided to take her so eventually the plan is to have a mouser. So far she has been a good cat and the kids love her. Her name is Cuddles. Dylan and Katie seem to think she is theirs and not the families but its the older kids who have to clean up after her and feed her.

So my goal is...... to change all the rooms in our house. Robs not going to be thrilled with this idea but will like it when its finally done. So he has said.... Our first wall is done in our back living room others to follow when we get to them. I was so thrilled to come home to find rob had started this after being very persistant that he will not help me (he didn't want anything changed) he has however told me he really does like the color.

Katie has a new hair cut its really short but I know its only hair and will grow out. She needed a new cut it was so dead. Its growing on us. She didn't want it cut and I left the room while she was having it done and she looked at the hair dresser and said "Don't listen to my mom I don't want it short". Of course mom won that battle. She is beautiful either way.

Johnathon already in the fifth grade... Where has time gone? A few things with him this month we had his Dare graduation and the pine wood durby. I'm so proud of him. He is such a wonderful young man. The Lord knew I would need someone as strong as him in my life I just pray he will always be that strong spirit.

School is in session for me again! So far so good I have classes three days a week long night but I think this time will be easier than the last semester. The week has gone by so quick. I just heard that they are changing our nursing program to a doctorate program which I find exciting. Bad thing though it probably won't happen while I'm still there but if it does that is where I will be going. Kids are all doing great I'll try to post more pictures soon. With the new year came new changes. I for one CHOPPED my hair I think its to my chin lol I needed a change. Ok I'll be honest I don't have time to do anything with it.

Back to school for one and all. Christmas break is over and the kids start back tomorrow. I start another round of college classes also. This sememster I'm taking 13 credits again but taking it easier mostly fun and easy classes. I do have Biology so still some work to do. I also am finishing up my CNA class this month so I will have one certification down and getting ready for more. I should be able to apply to the nursing program after this semester. :) well see how this goes.

Every year we let the kids decorate the tree. This year they wanted to do a countdown till Christmas. By the time Christmas day came the tree was bare. Which was great they loved it.

Christmas was a lot of fun the kids really enjoyed having to find the presents. We had my brother Matthew up here with us for the holidays while my mom is trying to recover from breaking her back. I wasn't really sure how to post all the pictures so hopefully they work

FIVE days till Christmas.......... It seems like the closer it gets the more stressed out I become and the more the kids fight. Ive been so tired of the fighting that I really want to take Christmas away. Luckily for the kids Rob won't let me. I don't know if it just doesn't bother him or what. I had it taken away once when I was growing up......I'm pretty sure we learned our lesson. I even went to the point of undecorated the tree all but the lights (its a pre-lit one). On a lighter note... this year I'm going to do a scavenger hunt with the gifts. We do it for Easter etc. why not Christmas. I found some poems and wrote a few that will give a clue of the location than once they find it they have to bring it back to wait till everyone finds theirs and than we'll open them. I am excited about that part!!! Once I find our USB port for the camera I'll post some pictures.

This is finals week at school! So far three done two to go. They are both tomorrow one day one night. I'm actually looking forward to next semester, I'll be doing more medical things instead of just generals. Hopefully I pass all my classes this semester!

Only a few more days till Christmas!!!! Every day the younger kids will ask "Is it Christmas Yet?" Its kinda like when were in the car and they say are we there yet? Kids gotta love them. I am excited for Christmas this year but at the same time I'm tired of how everyone seems to have forgotten the real meaning of it. Oh well, my kids know its about Jesus birth and giving to others not receiving. They love to go and do for others. I can't wait for it to come either way.

This next weekend is Uncle Joeys wedding We are so excited. We ordered Dads Christmas Gift today. He will love it, he has always wanted to do it. We can't post what it is because well he would know.
